AMERICORPS: Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Feeding South Dakota has served 2.5 times more people than normal. They’ve called in backup in the form of AmeriCorps, which has been helping them since Jan. 21. AmeriCorps will be at the Pierre office of Feeding South Dakota until Feb. 26. ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: Pierre T.F. Riggs sophomore Remington Price and freshman Ray Crow have been named this week’s PACA-Avera Athletes of the Week. Both have been doing great work on the basketball court. Price plays for the Governors varsity girls basketball team, while Crow plays for the Governors freshman boys basketball team.
CHICK-FIL-A CAR GIVEWAY: Haley Bridges, an Appleton, Wisconsin Chick-Fil-A worker, won a new car during a Christmas raffle. She decided to give the car away to co-worker Hokule’a Taniguchi, who had been biking to work in the frigid winters of Wisconsin. It’s quite the heart-warming story.
